Our Open Studios was a huge success!

By 2019

We all had such good fun at our Open Studios on Sunday 17th November. Helped along with the first mulled wine of the season!

The lovely members produced some fantastic work for the occasion and there was a lot of interest, buying and commissions taken. Hats of to the lovely Daisy Bryant who sold out almost all of her lovely little porcelain animals.

Our next Open Studio will be around Easter time so please do look out for it!

Our first Half Day Taster Potter’s Wheel and Handbuilding class was Such good fun!

By 2019

Our first ever half day Taster doing both the Potter’s Wheel and Handbuilding on 5th October was such good fun! Nine lovely people made it all possible.

This taster was 4.5hrs long so gave everyone plenty of time to explore handbuilding making coil pots and using the molds to make some rather fancy plates which they decorated with coloured slips! They also spent half the time on the potter’s wheel having several goes and really getting to grips with the technique.

A fantastic, relaxed atmosphere! Amazing work produced. Thank you all for making it happen. The next Half Day Taster is on 23rd November.

See you there!

Exciting news! We are starting a new, longer occasional Taster on the Potter’s Wheel on a Wednesday evening soon.

A much more relaxed affair than our Saturday taster with tea/coffee/biscuits and glass of wine. It’s all very chilled with plenty of time to make a few pots on the wheel.

The first class is on Wednesday 20th November 7-9.15pm. Bookings are through our Classes and Courses page.

See you there!

The studio’s had a revamp!

By 2019

We’ve had a busy summer at the studio prepping for a new kiln! The ground floor studio has had a revamp with everything being moved around and space being created for a 6th wheel on this level. It will be here soon! Thank you members for your patience!

But the results are fantastic and worth a couple of weeks of inconvenience. The studio feels light and funnily enough, bigger! I love coming into it everyday. Not quite finished, a few more things to sort out and then get on with making some plant pots so that we can have a bit of greenery in here as well as the garden!

Now to tackle the downstairs studio and kiln room!

We’re planning on adding another wheel downstairs taking the total number of wheels up to 10 and a small table top kiln for test tiles and lustre firings to add to our lovely old kiln and the big new one. For those that don’t know the story, when I took over my old studio I inherited a few things from the previous owner Mandy. I had met Mandy a few times and we’d had a chat about Camberwell College where we had both studied but at different times. Mandy died very suddenly when she was just in her 40s.

I have a lot of equipment around the studio with Many written on them. The kiln was hers and I bought it from her husband. Over the last 10 years, the kiln has served me really well. It’s looking a bit worse for wear now but, I am assured that it has another couple of years left. The addition of the new kiln will ease the pressure on Mandy’s kiln as it has always been known.

It’s been a busy start to 2019 at our lovely pottery studio!

By 2019

We’ve had a busy start to 2019 at our lovely pottery studio. Last week we had two new 8 week throwing on the potter’s wheel courses starting and one 9 week intro to pottery course as well as the one-off classes on a Saturday! Busy, busy busy!

Thought we’d share some photos from our 9 week intro to pottery course. This is the first time we’ve done this combined course. 4 weeks of the potter’s wheel and 4 weeks of handbuilding followed by a mega glazing session! It was a lovely class and we’re looking forward to getting to know the students and seeing all the wonderful work they produce.

They did so well! It got very messy! Amazing work everyone!

New dates for the next course go up shortly. Look out for them!
