This fantastic 8 week beginners potter’s wheel course runs on Monday/Tuesday evenings. It’s a great grounding for anyone who is serious about learning to throw. It is for adults 18+. What it includes:

• Maximum 6 students in a class with up to two teachers

• Wedging and preparing clay

• Centring small, medium & large amounts of clay

• Throwing bowls & cylinders

• Turning bases

• Pulling and attaching a handle

• Glazing all your work once your work has been fired

Finished in the beginners but not quite ready for the step up to intermediate? We don’t believe that your only option should be is to repeat the beginners course. So, for that reason, we are introducing this new short course to help those who have done a beginners but just need a bit more practice and tuition to get them to the next stage. This course focusses on improvement not on producing mountains of work. If you really want to keep something, we will bisque fire it at no extra charge. It is for adults 18+. You will be covering:

• Minimum requirement 10 hours on the wheel

• Improving technique

• Looking at centring progressively larger pieces

• Improving pulling up

• Helping you to reach your individual goals

• Practice, practice, practice!

• Maximum 6 students in a class

Finished in the beginners, time to move up to the improvers/intermediates. This 5 week course will look at improving your technique as well as taking your throwing to the next level. It focusses on improvement not on producing mountains of work. It is for adults 18+. You will be covering:

• Minimum requirement: two beginners courses(wheel)/one beginners course & one beginners plus course(wheel)/14 hours on the wheel & be able to consistently centre 250g clay

• Improving technique

• Throwing large

• Throwing off the hump

• Helping you to reach your individual goals

• Practice projects

• Maximum 4 students in a class

So you’ve done a beginners course and a beginners+/intermediate course but you are not able to take on membership just yet. What to do?

Well, you could do some termly practice sessions until you are ready to take on membership.

• Untutored sessions

• Bought either singularly or in bulk

• Clay purchased by the bag (around £13.50 for a 12.5kg bag)

• Fee includes firings to bisque

• Glazing charged for separately

• 1 x session (2 hours): £40

• 3 x sessions (6 hours): £105 (£35 for each 2 hour session)

• 5 x sessions (10 hours): £150 (£30 for each 2 hour session)

• Bookings are non-transferable and must be used up by the end of each term

• These sessions are only open to students of ClayKilnCraft. Students from other studios would need to contact us first.
