OPEN ACCESS POTTERY & TEACHING SCHOOL

Come and join us!

At ClayKilnCraft we take great pride in being a completely independent pottery studio. We have the facilities of a large studio with the heart of a smaller one. We aim to nurture & inspire all our students & members to help them achieve their goals.

Our classes are small with plenty of teachers so loads of one-to-one time. We offer one-off classes, potter’s wheel throwing courses as well as combined general hand building & wheel courses.

We also run an open access membership scheme for hobbyists, amateurs, semi-professionals & the enthusiastic in a supportive, informative and fun environment.

WHEEL THROWING COURSES

We offer a range of throwing courses from beginners to intermediate on both evenings and weekends. We also offer termly Saturday open sessions for more experienced throwers and one-off tasters for those who just want to try it out!

FOUNDATION & GENERAL COURSES

5 week beginners foundation course plus 8 week courses for all levels learning the basics of the wheel and hand building techniques as well as developing your own projects for beginners & working individually with improvers/intermediates to reach the next level of their learning.

ONE-OFF TASTER SESSIONS

One-off 2 hour tasters on the wheel or a spot of hand building.

Why not make a night of it at one of our taster socials where we throw in some wine and nibbles too.

INTENSIVE SUMMER SESSIONS

Coming soon our summer sessions. Short, intensive courses and masterclasses. If you are a beginner or wanting to finally be able to throw something really large, there will be something for everyone this coming summer!

Just finished a beginners course? Why not try our 3 month supported membership. 15 hours additional tuition to help you improve and gain your confidence.

THE CHEMISTRY OF GLAZING

Starting in the New Year, this course is for experienced potters wanting to start mixing their own glazes. You will look at the properties of different materials via experiments, use your results to combine the materials to make your own recipe glazes. There’s a lot of chemistry in this course but don’t let that put you of!

1 DAY RAKU AND PIT FIRINGS

Starting next year we will be offering off-site one-day Raku and Pit-firings. Look out for details.
